An Ottawa County teenager has died following a shooting incident, which began in a vehicle and ended at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids. The 18-year-old victim, Hector Enriquez-Rangel, was transported to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the torso and later died from his injuries, according to FOX 17.

The Ottawa County Sheriff's Office was alerted by the Grand Rapids Police Department after the victim was admitted to the hospital last Saturday. Further investigation determined that the shooting occurred near the intersection of Arthur Street and 40th Avenue in Wright Township. Authorities have arrested an additional 18-year-old, Alan Lopez, who was taken into custody at the hospital in connection with the incident, as reported by WOODTV. Lopez now faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, carrying a concealed weapon, and use of a firearm in the commission of felony. He's accused of fatally shooting his friend Enriquez-Rangel.

The fatal shot was said to be fired inside the vehicle that the two teenagers occupied prior to the shooting, according to a statement obtained by WOODTV. Captain Jacob Sparks from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office explained, "The information that we have at this time is that the two subjects were in a vehicle together prior to the shooting and a shot was fired inside that vehicle." He added that the teens were friends and that no criminal activity was suspected prior to the gunshot.

After the incident, Lopez drove Enriquez-Rangel to the hospital, where authorities later arrested him. His bail was set at $100,000 during the arraignment. As the investigation continues, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office urges anyone with information regarding this incident to contact their office, Ottawa County Central Dispatch, or Silent Observer, as mentioned in an article from WWMT. Details surrounding the shooting are limited, and authorities are working to reconstruct the events that led to the incident.
