Residents of Pinellas County, listen up: If you're looking to green up your personal landscapes, mark your calendars for a tree giveaway event set for April 19. Pinellas County Urban Forestry will be giving away trees to locals at their Urban Forestry and Landscape Services campus in Clearwater. This green gesture is part of the celebration of National Arbor Day and will kick off from 9 a.m. to noon.
Those who arrive first will get the pick of the bunch, as trees are available on a first-come first-served basis. But don't get there too late; each household is limited to only up to two free trees. According to information provided by Pinellas County's official announcement, available species include the likes of Bald cypress and American elm amongst others. So, whether you're looking to amp up your yard's shade or simply to add an accent, they've probably got you covered.
For anyone unsure if their thumb is green enough to handle the responsibility, fear not. The trees offered are ready to make the transition to your home. Grown in 3-gallon pots measuring 10 inches in diameter, these trees stand three feet or taller, offering a strong starting point for planting. With options ranging from Dahoon holly to Florida privet, you're likely to find a tree that fits both your aesthetic and your environment. The Urban Forestry campus located at 4550 126th Ave N, Clearwater will be the place to be come April 19.
