The Rancho Cordova Police Department (RCPD) has recently participated in a high-stakes operation known as "Folsom Blues," a concerted effort to tackle the persistent and deadly opioid crisis plaguing Sacramento County. According to a social media post by Rancho Cordova PD, the multi-agency initiative has yielded significant results in the ongoing battle against narcotics, particularly fentanyl, resulting in a commendable 56% reduction in fentanyl-related deaths over the past year.
The RCPD's Crime Suppression Unit, in collaboration with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners, worked cohesively through the operation that punched its weight in curbing drug-related incidents throughout the county, especially within Rancho Cordova's jurisdiction, not to mention the subsequent initiatives that emerged from the rigorous enforcement. Boasting a sizable haul for law enforcement, the operation led to 51 felony arrests and 38 misdemeanor arrests, while also seizing 25 firearms and $25,000 in cash, the various seizures reinforcing law enforcement's intention to dismantle the network of illicit drug traffic that has long cast a shadow across Sacramento County.
Furthermore, the operation witnessed the recovery of significant quantities of dangerous drugs, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, and an assortment of narcotic prescription pills these substances often being the harbingers of devastation in communities across the country. Multiple search warrants were also executed, laying the groundwork for deeper investigations into drug trafficking in the region. The "Folsom Blues" operation did not just remove illicit substances from the streets, but it actively pursued the roots of the drug trade with the intention of delivering longer-term disruptions to these nefarious activities.
In their social media announcement regarding the operation's outcomes, the Rancho Cordova PD declared, "These types of collaborative law enforcement operations are aimed at keeping our communities safe, and we are proud of the continued role the RCPD CSU Team takes as they show their commitment to community," signaling the department's unwavering stance against the circulation of opioids and their detrimental effects on the public.
