After years of uncertainty and a protracted search, the family of Kevin Graves will finally be able to lay him to rest. Graves, who vanished at the age of 28 while attending the Electric Forest Festival in 2018, had his remains discovered near the festival site in late 2024, as reported by WZZM13. The remains were found in December in the vicinity of the Double JJ Resort, a 1,000-acre facility, with personal items such as Graves' phone and wallet nearby, with dental records confirming the identity.
The prolonged search has taken a toll, leaving the family to now come to terms with the finality of their loss. Graves' sister Kellie mentioned to WZZM13, "It's heartbreaking," describing the discovery as "bittersweet." Graves has long been remembered by his family as a loving individual with a love for hunting and a talent for mechanical tasks. His obituary, published online and detailed by Oceana County Press, speaks of a man who "lived a life marked by kindness, generosity, and a remarkable ability to master any task he set his mind to."
A memorial service is scheduled for March 22, at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes in Howell, Michigan. The service will begin with visitation at 10 a.m. followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m., as noted by WZZM13.
In lieu of flowers, Graves' family has requested donations to be directed to the Venus Foundation, a search and advocacy group which assists families of missing persons. Contributions can be sent to Venus Foundation c/o Kellie Boers, 3904 Hayes St., Portage, MI 49002, as stated in the funeral arrangement notices posted by Oceana County Press.
