
Earlier today, a fire broke out in a MarVista home undergoing renovations, according to a Los Angeles Fire Department report. The incident, logged as INC#0783, was first reported at 12:20 P.M. with fire crews arriving to find light smoke emanating from the second floor of the 2-story single-family dwelling located at 3700 S Ocean View Avenue. Firefighters took offensive action against the blaze to contain and extinguish the source.
The cause of the fire, which seems to stem from a sweat solder operation as part of the home's remodel effort, led to a quick spread through the walls and into the attic and roof of the residence, the LAFD attributes the start of the fire to an "apparent sweat solder operation in a room remodel," the flames managed to infiltrate several areas of the home before fire teams succeeding in knocking them down.
The LAFD's follow-up release disclosed that it took 33 firefighters less than half an hour—21 minutes to be precise—to subdue the fire completely. Their swift response ensured that all occupants of the house emerged without injury, and no further casualties were reported in the aftermath of the event.
Covering Council District 11, the fire drew response units including FS 62, Batt 4, West Bureau; BC4, BC9, E263, E292, E62, E63, E67, RA63, RA867, T63, and T92, documentation of the incident has been preserved on the official LAFD website, where the alert was first published. The fire has since been fully extinguished and an investigation into the exact circumstances leading to is underway, while residents of the area are being cautioned to heed safety protocols during home renovations.
