Santa Rosa Man Charged with Multiple Felonies After Traffic Stop Leads to Weapons and Narcotics BustSource: Santa Rosa Police Department

Yesterday, Santa Rosa's streets witnessed a routine traffic stop escalate into a significant weapons bust. Santa Rosa Police Department's Special Enforcement Team (SET) pulled over a vehicle after its driver failed to move through a green light at an intersection, violating California Vehicle Code 21451(a). Officers discovered not only an open container of alcohol but also approximately 24 grams of suspected narcotics, various sums of “Prop” money alongside legitimate cash, and a loaded assault weapon, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.

The driver, identified as 28-year-old Alejandro Gonzalez from Santa Rosa, found himself facing multiple felony charges after the traffic stop. The search that uncovered the contraband also resulted in the seizure of a 300 Blackout short-barrel rifle with a folding stock, which, per California law, is considered an assault weapon.

Gonzalez was subsequently booked at the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on a series of charges, including possession of a short barrel rifle, a loaded firearm in public, a concealed firearm in a vehicle, and narcotics for sale, among others.
