Following an investigation that started in February 2025, the Santa Rosa Police Department's (SRPD) Narcotics Team arrested 42-year-old Kayla Meredith on charges of drug manufacturing and child endangerment. Meredith was found to be involved in the manufacturing and distribution of Dimethyltryptamine (DMT), a powerful psychedelic known for causing intense hallucinations and having a significant potential for abuse. This information comes directly from a social media post by the Santa Rosa Police.

Yesterday, Kayla Meredith was detained by SRPD Narcotics detectives, and a search of her vehicle in the 7900 block of Redwood Drive uncovered suspected DMT. The arrest occurred at around 3:34 p.m. in Cotati, where Meredith was stopped pursuant to a search warrant carried out by a SRPD patrol officer. While searching Meredith's home on the 400 block of Mission Boulevard in Santa Rosa, the detectives discovered various stages of suspected DMT production in locations including the kitchen, freezer, and patio, effectively rendering the home a clandestine laboratory.

In their statement, Santa Rosa police highlighted the presence of Lye among the dangerous chemicals found on the property. According to experts, mishandling such chemicals could lead to significant injury or even death, particularly for the untrained or unsuspecting. The outlook for the unguarded child, in this context, is not something police took lightly.

Adding another layer of gravity to the violations, Meredith's 10-year-old daughter lived in the home where chemicals and drug paraphernalia were accessible, presenting a severe risk of accidental contact or ingestion.

Meredith now faces several serious charges: felony child endangerment under 273a(a) PC, drug manufacturing under 11379.6 H&S, possession of a controlled substance for sale under 11378 H&S, and maintaining a dwelling for the manufacture and/or sale of drugs under 11366 H&S. After her arrest, she was booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
