Two workers were injured in an industrial accident at a Chevron plant in Pasadena on Wednesday when scaffolding collapsed. The incident happened around midday at the Red Bluff facility. The workers fell about 25 feet and were taken to the hospital for treatment. One was conscious and flown to the hospital by Life Flight, while the other was transported by ambulance, according to KHOU.
Further details were scant as the Pasadena Fire Department engaged actively to thoroughly understand just what led to the sudden collapse. In a statement obtained by Click2Houston, Pasadena Fire Marshal David Brannon said, "the incident occurred when three men, believed to be contractors for Chevron, fell around 25 feet from a temporary structure used to support a work crew and materials inside the plant."
Emergency crews quickly responded to the scene, but the status of the third reported victim is unclear due to conflicting reports. The identities of the workers and their specific tasks at the time of the accident have not been released, and Chevron has not made a public statement. The Pasadena Fire Department will investigate the cause of the accident and work to prevent similar incidents in the future, as per Click2Houston.
