
An apartment fire broke out in the Sharpstown area earlier this month, causing significant damage but thankfully no injuries. The incident occurred at an apartment building located at 10300 Harwin Dr. on the evening of Last Wednesday, according to City of Houston News.
Firefighting units responded to the scene around 8:05 p.m. to find light smoke emanating from the structure. Investigation revealed that, the fire had ignited within a wall shared by two of the building's units. Personnel from several Houston fire stations were among the 39 responding to the emergency, successfully extinguishing the fire and ensuring it had not spread beyond the initial site, as reported by the City of Houston.
Although the fire resulted in approximately $60,000 worth of damage, firefighters managed to save an estimated $190,000 in property. The cause of the fire has been identified as "failure of equipment or heat source." The affected apartments endured both water and smoke damage along with the compromised walls, as stated by the City of Houston.
Details of the response, updated on Thursday, include a list of the firefighter stations involved in the operation, among them Stations 2, 68, 83, 10, 51, 60, 57, and Rescue 10. No further information regarding potential displacement or relief efforts for affected residents has been made available at this time, as per the City of Houston.
