Last night, in downtown Petaluma, an altercation turned violent in the Keller Street Garage as Petaluma police officers received a dispatch at approximately 11:51 p.m. yesterday, according to a Petaluma Police Department release. Emergency calls reported a fight in progress and indicated the alleged perpetrator had fleetingly escaped the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived.
The pointed urgency of blue and red lights soon bathed the scene, where officers found the victim bearing the marks of conflict—a contusion stark against their face. With the aid of Petaluma Fire Department paramedics, the victim’s injuries were evaluated and found non-life-threatening. However, the evidence of a kick to the head will likely not soon fade.
Efforts to locate the suspect turned fruitful when officers found a vehicle, its description echoing the fleeing car's details. Behind the wheel sat Adan Juarez-Munoz, a 21-year-old Sonoma resident whose appearance aligned closely with the witness's description. The Nixle report confirms Juarez-Munoz's arrest followed promptly, and he was taken into custody, suspected of having upended the calm of the night with his actions.
The Petaluma Police Department booked Juarez-Munoz at Sonoma County Jail, and he faces grave charges: assault with a deadly weapon and violation of probation, each carrying the heavy weight of societal trust betrayed.
In a statement released, the police department reiterated the crucial importance of vigilance and cooperation from the public. "The Petaluma Police Department urges anyone who witnesses or is involved in an emergency to immediately contact our Dispatch Center."
