The Metropolitan Police Department has reported a series of arrests related to the unauthorized use of vehicles and auto theft in the Washington, DC area. Over the span of a week, numerous individuals, ranging in age from juveniles to a 37-year-old, have been charged with either Theft One (Stolen Auto) or Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle across various locations in the city, as announced by the Metropolitan Police Department.

On March 7, in the 1500 block of Wisconsin Avenue, NW, 28-year-old David Carabants from Riverdale, MD was apprehended for Theft One (Stolen Auto). The same day, the 300 block of U Street, NE saw the arrests of 18-year-old Malik Terf and 19-year-old Avery Miller, both charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle—details of the arrest running through the heart of DC's neighborhoods.

The following days witnessed a continuation of arrests. Floyd Clark, 21, of Northeast, DC, was charged last Saturday for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle in the 4500 block of Benning Road, NE. Kwame Baffour-Akowuah, 33, from New Castle, DE, was arrested last Sunday in the 1500 block of Marion Street, NW on the same offense.

Among the notable arrests were three juvenile males, caught in the act of Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle in the 600 block of 46th Place, SE last Monday. With ages spanning from 14 to 16, these young individuals, hailing from Southeast, DC, and Hyvillage, MD, possibly unaware, sat at the starting line of a path that leads to more than just the temporary thrill of steering a wheel that does not belong to them.

The arrests continued into Thursday. Precious Spivey, a 19-year-old from Fort Washington, MD, and Terrence Stanley, a 37-year-old from Northwest, DC, were both taken into custody, separately charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and Theft One (Stolen Auto) respectively. On the same day, Jaquan Johnson, 30, and Quinell Ross, 32, who has no address available, both were arrested for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle in the 3700 block of 12th Street, NE. Finally, James Jones, 19, of Southwest, DC, was charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle in the 200 block of Valley Avenue, SE.
