In the early hours of St. Patrick's Day, tragedy struck on a Long Beach street when gunfire erupted, leaving one man dead. The Long Beach Police Department responded to reports of a shooting on the 5400 block of Atlantic Avenue at approximately 3:50 a.m. This incident added a somber note to a day otherwise filled with festive green and communal celebrations.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the victim, identified only as a male adult, sustained gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to the hospital by the Long Beach Fire Department. Despite rapid response and medical intervention, the victim succumbed to his injuries, his life ending amidst the efforts to save it.
Detectives are currently on the scene, and the investigation remains ongoing. Further details will be provided in a news release later.
