Following diligent police work, the Sacramento Police Department has reported the arrest of two suspects in connection with a homicide that took place over a year ago. The announcement revealed that 25-year-old Michael Escobar of West Sacramento and 23-year-old Pedro Carrillo Jr. of Galt were both taken into custody and are facing homicide charges. In a social media post detailing the breaks in the case, officials emphasized their commitment to seeking justice, saying, "Our detectives have been diligent and thorough in this investigation. They have been relentless in their pursuit of justice for the victim's family."
In the early hours of February 17, 2024, officers discovered an adult male victim inside a vehicle at the intersection of Edmonton Drive and Northstead Drive, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts by officers at the scene and medical staff at the hospital, the victim later died from his injuries. Initially, with no suspects or arrests, investigators worked diligently, canvassing the area and interviewing witnesses. The Sacramento County Coroner's Office was responsible for identifying the victim and notifying the next of kin, while the search for witnesses continued.
In their ongoing efforts, the Sacramento Police Department called on the public for assistance, offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. This appeal for community help was part of a broader initiative to uncover the details behind the crime.
