Two suspects are now in custody following a swift investigation into a vehicle burglary that occurred in Tampa, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. In a Facebook post shared by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, the incident took place on Wednesday when a victim, who had just withdrawn cash from a Bank of America, discovered their vehicle was broken into and the money stolen.
Investigators managed to quickly zero in on a suspect vehicle tied to a similar case. The owner of the vehicle had been under lookout, and when it was spotted near North 15th Street and Fowler Avenue, a traffic stop on Thursday led to the culprits' apprehension. The suspects were identified as Tshaun Lwayne Earl Hunter, 24, and Keshawne Shamar Jones, 25, who both now face charges of Burglary of an Unoccupied Conveyance and Grand Theft. "These arrests send a clear message: if you target innocent people in our community, we will find you and hold you accountable,” Sheriff Chad Chronister stated in the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's announcement.
Chronister also took this opportunity to remind residents to always secure their vehicles. By simply locking car doors and ensuring that no valuables are left within sight, individuals can greatly diminish the risks of falling prey to such opportunistic crimes.
In the wake of the arrests, the law enforcement community is emphasizing the effectiveness of the Hillsborough County Real Time Crime Center, which played a pivotal role in swiftly bringing Hunter and Jones to justice.
