A somber scene unfolded in a Las Vegas neighborhood last night, where a woman and a man died in what authorities suspect was a murder-suicide. Las Vegas police were summoned around 5:30 p.m. to a residence near Bruce Street and Bonanza Road after reports of a shooting inside the home, according to News3LV.

When they arrived, detectives heard another gunshot, prompting immediate entry into the home where they found the man and woman with gunshot wounds. The woman had been taken to University Medical Center but, officials later pronounced her deceased. On the scene, the man was pronounced dead. Both had recently ended a long-term relationship and were in the midst of a visitation involving the woman's children, Lt. Robert Price of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Section told KTNV.

According to the continuing investigation, the woman had brought their children for a scheduled visit to the man's home when an argument broke out. The male "produced a firearm and unfortunately shot the female," before turning the gun on himself as officers arrived at the scene, sources with direct knowledge of the investigation told News3LV.

"This is a very tragic, tragic event," Lt. Price said. He urged those with domestic violence issues to seek resources, specifying, "We encourage everybody who has any type of domestic violence issues to please reach out to support services [like] the Family Justice Center. It does not have to end like this." The children involved, Price confirmed, were found safe and had not physically harmed in the incident.

As the investigation unfolds, further updates are expected to follow. The identities of the deceased have yet to be released. However, authorities have confirmed the children were not physically injured during the incident. For those in need of domestic violence support, contact information for local resources such as the Family Justice Center is made available, emphasized the need by Lt. Price offering a critical reminder during this time of tragedy.
