Looking to tap into your creativity or pick up a new hobby? The Sertoma Arts Center is rolling out its latest series of classes, with registration already underway for Raleigh residents and soon opening for non-residents. Whether you're interested in traditional craft or contemporary art, there's something on offer for nearly every age and interest.
For the teen crowd, a class titled "Drawing Fundamentals for Teens" is being taught by Anne Terry. It's tailored for 13 to 16-year-olds and will delve into various drawing techniques, ranging from gesture drawing to composition and perspective. According to the City of Raleigh's recent post, students can expect to experiment with diverse materials such as pencil, pen, charcoal, and markers across 6 sessions priced at $91 for residents and $106 for non-residents. One thing to note, there's no class on March 31, but all other supplies are included.
Meanwhile, crafters age 12 and up can try their hand at Appalachian Turkey Wing Broom making with instructor Sarah Ann Austin. This one-session class, which costs $51 for residents and $66 for non-residents, is a deep dive into the functional and artistic world of traditional broom making. For a nominal fee of $10 due at the start of the session, participants receive all the required materials to learn and create their own hand broom.
If glasswork sparks your interest, the "Fused Glass Nightlight" workshop may illuminate your passion. For $31 (residents) or $46 (non-residents), you can spend a day with instructor Danielle Cozart creating a custom nightlight that adds a personal touch to any room. All essentials are provided for the $10 supply fee, charged at the class's commencement, and you're free to design anything from an adorable pet portrait to abstract patterns, as per the City of Raleigh.
Full details on these and other available classes can be found by visiting RecLink or previewing the Leisure Ledger's upcoming classes and programs. If you're ready to learn something new or enhance your existing skills, don't hesitate to register for the Sertoma Arts Center's enriching offerings. And don't forget, summer class registration opens on March 18 – mark your calendars to secure your spot!
