A Vallejo man is facing a serious stretch of charges by the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office after a string of bold thefts from multiple Target stores, totaling nearly $25,000 in stolen goods, mainly LEGO products, the DA's office confirmed. Michael Ivory Fletcher, 32, now locked up at the Martinez Detention Facility, was hit with a 12-count felony complaint, his bail punching the scale at $467,500, following a spree of thefts spanning several Northern California counties.
Fletcher's alleged retail rampage stretched from August 15, 2024, through February 15, and the methods were straightforward: walking into the stores solo, he would reportedly flood a cart with LEGO sets and make a speedy exit, avoiding checkout lines, loading his haul into a vehicle often parked brazenly in a disabled parking spot, these events led to his detention and the forthcoming preliminary hearing, as detailed by the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.
The DA's announcement underscores the fact that the case against Fletcher isn't confined to Contra Costa County alone; his alleged retail heists spread across Solano, Alameda, San Joaquin, Sonoma, and Santa Clara Counties, indicating a pattern of behavior that has been on law enforcement's radar across the region. Target stores in Walnut Creek and San Ramon were particularly hard hit in the multi-county Lego lootings.
"The effective investigative efforts of the Walnut Creek and San Ramon police departments were crucial in bringing this case forward. We are committed to holding this individual accountable," said District Attorney Diana Becton, with a clear nod to the importance of such cases, as per the Contra Costa DA's Office.
