The town of Wake Forest is set to honor the roots of its firefighting history with the dedication of a new historic marker, situated at the very spot where the first fire station once stood. According to a news release from the Town of Wake Forest, the community is invited to witness the ceremony today at 3 p.m., located at the corner of East Owen Avenue and South White Street.
The event promises to blend community spirit with remembrance, featuring a speech by Wake Forest Fire Captain Daniel Gregory. It has been planned meticulously, even down to the closing of East Owen Avenue from approximately 2:45-3:30 p.m., ensuring that the ceremony, uninterrupted by the flow of everyday traffic, can proceed smoothly.
Recognizing the site's significance, the installation of the marker stands as a testament to those who have served the Wake Forest community through fire and emergency services over the years. It's a nod to the past that promises to preserve the legacy for future generations, allowing the story of the town's firefighting efforts to be eternally etched into the locality's memory.
