
Sacramento will experience warm and dry conditions this weekend, with only light showers possible over the mountains. Above-average temperatures are expected into early next week, leading to "widespread Minor HeatRisk," according to the National Weather Service.
On Sunday, temperatures in the northern and central Sacramento Valley will be 10 to 20 degrees above normal, reaching the low 80s, with similar conditions Monday. By Wednesday, temperatures will begin to cool but remain "above normal," depending on the position of an upper-level ridge. The National Weather Service forecasts a 10-20% chance of isolated thunderstorms in Shasta and Tehama counties Wednesday, with lower chances in other areas.
A Pacific trough will move onshore mid-week, bringing cooler temperatures and light rain, mainly in the mountains. Snow levels will start at 8000 feet and drop to 5000 feet by Thursday. Winds may reach 20-30 mph in the valley and up to 45 mph in the Sierra. VFR conditions are expected for the next 24 hours, with light showers possible over the mountains and northern Sacramento Valley after nightfall. The northern San Joaquin Valley may experience north winds at 12 kts, gusting to 15 kts, as reported by the National Weather Service.
