Waukesha residents will see a smooth transition in their garbage and recycling services later this month as Waste Management's contract ends on March 28. Starting March 31, Johns Disposal, based in Whitewater, WI, will take over. The City chose Johns Disposal after a thorough review, finding their services and pricing best fit the City of Waukesha's needs.
Households within the City of Waukesha won't have to worry about disruptions to their trash collection schedule. The City of Waukesha has confirmed, via its official announcement, that garbage will keep being collected weekly, while recycling pick-up will stick to its biweekly routine. As part of this transition, new city-owned carts will replace the existing ones at eligible properties, with automated pick-up services receiving a fresh set of carts for garbage and recycling.
Eligible residents should note that they will be issued standard-size carts unless they proactively request a different size. The City of Waukesha has determined 64 gallons for garbage and 96 gallons for recycling as the standard capacities. In essence, residents don't need to take any action to receive these standard-size carts, simplifying the process during the transition period.
