A series of burglaries in Wilmington has led to the arrest of Jaleel Carter, according to the Wilmington Police Department. Carter, 30, is facing charges for multiple break-ins that occurred between December 2024 and February this year. The burglaries, initially reported on Nixle, prompted attention from both the Uniformed Services Division and the Criminal Investigations Division, led by Detective Joran Merced.
The incidents began on the 300 block of Cedar Street and spread to Stroud Street. Detective Merced's investigation connected Carter to the crimes. Carter was arrested on Tuesday last week without incident, and he faces charges including second-degree burglary, attempted second-degree burglary, and receiving stolen property under $1,500.
After his arraignment in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas, Carter was held at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $6,000 cash-only bail.
