Wilmington Police have put the cuffs on a 48-year-old man believed to be behind a series of burglaries, wrapping up an intense investigation. The Uniformed Services Division first caught wind of the suspect's activity on March 10, when they were called to North Dupont Street for a break-in. The following day, they were back on the beat responding to another burglary, this time on West 4th Street.
These incidents were just the start of a bigger puzzle that Detective Thomas Rittenhouse of the Criminal Investigations Division was determined to piece together. After sifting through the evidence, Rittenhouse zeroed in on Darnell Miller, tagging him as the prime suspect. His work led to the issuance of arrest warrants and Miller’s subsequent capture on Sunday, as per the Wilmington PD's release accessible via Nixle.
Miller, now facing a laundry list of charges that include two counts each of third-degree burglary and theft under $1,500, plus charges for criminal mischief both over and under $1,000, and the added twist of wearing a disguise during the felony heists had his day in Justice of the Peace Court 11. His bail was set at a sturdy $22,000, unsecured, and he's since found himself a temporary home at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution.
