The Wilmington Police Department’s Cold Case Unit is seeking the public’s help in solving a mystery dating back to April 8, 1978. On that day, officers were called to a landfill on the 600 block of Terminal Avenue, where they discovered the body of an unidentified male. The victim, believed to be between 17 and 25 years old, may have been there for up to seven years.

According to Nixle, the Cold Case Unit has uncovered that the victim had a severe pelvic deformity, causing a noticeable limp on the right side, possibly requiring crutches or a cane. He was wearing a bleached blue, long-sleeved "Kent-Collection By Arrow" shirt, bleached Levi’s pants, and undershorts. His identity remains unknown.

Forensic advancements have led to new leads, suggesting the victim may have familial ties to Georgetown County, South Carolina, or Delaware. Surnames like Harris, Ray, Rodgers, and Dukes may be linked to him. A reconstructed facial image, created by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, has been released to help with identification.

Olivia McCarter of Moxxy Forensic Investigations is awaiting contact from anyone who may be related to the victim at [email protected]. Those with information about the man’s identity or the circumstances of his death are encouraged to contact Investigator Steven Rizzo at (302) 576-3937 or Detective Devon Jones at (302) 576-3631.
