The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is encouraging people to contribute to the Endangered Resources Fund through the "Endangered Resources" line on their tax forms. Donations are matched, doubling the impact, and fully support efforts to save species at risk of extinction, according to a release from the DNR.

Wisconsin has over 400 endangered animal species and 300 threatened plants, and donations to the Endangered Resources Fund make a real difference. These funds support important work like protecting the eastern prairie fringed orchid, saving bald eagles, and continuing efforts like nest monitoring and river cleanups. As Drew Feldkirchner, the DNR’s director of the Bureau of Natural Heritage Conservation, puts it, “Every donation, no matter how small, helps us do the work needed to keep rare wildlife in Wisconsin.”

Donations also help smaller species like the rusty patched bumblebee, which is declining, and the little brown bat, which is being affected by white-nose syndrome. Thanks to public support, the DNR can protect natural areas, fight invasive species, and safeguard wildlife and plants that are struggling in Wisconsin.
