The Ann Arbor Police Department is investigating two separate groping incidents that occurred in the downtown area on Thursday night, raising safety concerns among residents. According to CBS News Detroit, the first incident took place around 11:20 p.m. near South Fifth Street and East William Street, wherein a woman was approached and groped by an unknown male. Despite continuing her walk, the assailant confronted her again with the same unwanted advances before fleeing the scene.

Shortly afterward, at approximately 11:45 p.m., a second incident occurred on the 1000 block of Greenwood Avenue, involving a different woman who also experienced similar harassment, WXYZ reported. The suspect reportedly approached her from behind and groped her as she walked up to her front porch. The woman, feeling threatened and violated, yelled at the man, causing him to run away.

Both victims provided a similar description of the perpetrator: a male between 20 to 25 years of age, standing between 5 feet, 8 inches and 6 feet tall with a skinny build, dressed in a light-colored jean jacket and a beanie-style hat. In a development that may aid in the search, a man believed to be the suspect was caught on surveillance video, which has been released by police in hopes that members of the community can assist in identifying the assailant.

Ann Arbor Police are urging anyone who might have information regarding these incidents to come forward, calling the situation a critical moment to ensure the safety and peace of the community, and in a statement obtained by WWJ Newsradio, the department has requested that tips be directed to them via phone at (734) 794-6939 or through email at [email protected]; they also offer the option for individuals to submit tips anonymously at their Silent Witness website.
