Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has appointed Christopher Rogers as the new Grand Traverse County Public Administrator. As the county's public administrator, Rogers will be primarily tasked to manage and oversee intestate decedent estates that lack apparent heirs. This includes the responsibility to adequately determine, collect, liquidate, and/or distribute any assets within such estates. Despite these duties, attorneys like Rogers often maintain their private practice responsibilities, which continue to be separate and unrelated to their public administrator role. According to the Michigan Department of Attorney General official press release, Nessel cited his commitment to the county as one of the reasons Rogers was considered an excellent choice.

State Public Administrator Randi M. Merchant also expressed enthusiasm about the addition of Rogers to the team. "I look forward to working with County Public Administrator Rogers," she stated. Emphasizing the quality of legal professionals serving across the state, Merchant added, "The Department is fortunate to have a talented and passionate pool of attorneys that serve as county public administrators across the state, and I have every confidence that Chris Rogers will be an outstanding addition to that team," as stated by the Michigan Department of Attorney General.

Rogers hails from Traverse City and is recognized for his academic achievements from the University of Michigan and the University of New Hampshire Franklin Pierce School of Law. Licensed with both the Illinois State Bar Association and the State Bar of Michigan, Rogers brings to the table 15 years of legal practice. His areas of expertise span across estate planning, probate and trust administration, real property, property tax law, and business law. Outside of his professional circles, Rogers is known to actively engage in community service and enjoys to spend quality time with his family. Rogers was sworn into his new role on Thursday, marking the beginning of his services as a public administrator, as reported by the Michigan Department of Attorney General.
