The Baltimore Police Department has made significant headway in cracking down on a series of violent incidents that have shaken the Southeast and Eastern Districts. Investigators have arrested two men, Eddie Murphy, 39, and Christopher Brigerman, 44, linking them to a spate of shootings, robberies, and a burglary that have occurred over the past few months.
The breakthrough in the case came as detectives meticulously collected surveillance footage, gathered pivotal intelligence, and obtained detailed descriptions of the suspects. These pieces of evidence allowed them to connect the dots and definitively place Brigerman and Murphy at the scene of an attempted armed robbery and shooting on New Year's Day on the 2400 block of Saint Paul Street. According to a report from the Ballas Police Department, the tireless efforts of various detective units from the Eastern, Southeast, Western, and Citywide Robbery units were instrumental in apprehending the suspects.
Further investigation revealed that Murphy was involved in several other violent offenses, including shootings on January 18 on Darley Avenue, March 9 on North Washington Street, and March 29 on North Fulton Avenue. Additionally, he was implicated in an armed carjacking and assault that took place on April 2 on Harford Road.
Warrant Apprehension detectives arrested Eddie Murphy on April 5 without incident. Brigerman was apprehended on April 9, discovered inside a residence on the 400 Block of North Rose Street during an unrelated burglary investigation. The suspect's history of prior arrests includes armed robbery and assault charges. Police Commissioner Richard Worley praised the officers and detectives, stating, "I want to commend our dedicated officers and detectives for their outstanding work in arresting these repeat violent offenders and removing them off our streets," in a statement detailed by the Baltimore Police Department's news release.
