
A man from Battle Creek has been apprehended by the police after discharging a firearm into a crowd, law enforcement officials report. The incident, which did not result in any reported injuries, happened on the afternoon of Thursday, on West Michigan Avenue amidst a large fight involving around 60 people, as reported by WOOD TV8.
According to WOOD TV8, the Battle Creek Police were initially summoned for a sizable altercation, and while en route, received further information about gunshots. Witnesses indicated to the first responders that the shooter, believed to be a 35-year-old local man, had fled the scene. Officers tracked, the suspect's vehicle apprehended him during a subsequent traffic stop where they discovered a firearm.
The unnamed suspect is currently housed at the Calhoun County Jail, facing charges that include reckless discharge, carrying a concealed weapon, and felon in possession of a firearm.
