Drug busts have become more frequent, and the latest occurred in Kingsville, Texas. Last Friday, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection made a significant discovery when they pulled over a Ford Escape at an immigration checkpoint and found methamphetamine hidden within the vehicle's panels.

The report states that a service canine alerted to the vehicle at the Javier Vega Jr. Checkpoint on US Highway 77, prompting agents to conduct a more thorough inspection. Behind several trim panels inside the vehicle, they found 90 bundles of methamphetamine, weighing approximately 102 pounds, with an estimated street value of around $3.26 million.

The seizure was the result of coordinated efforts, with Border Patrol playing a key role. The driver, a U.S. citizen, was taken into custody, and the case has been referred to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for investigation and potential charges. This reflects the continued efforts to address drug trafficking at the borders.

In her statement, RGV Sector Chief Gloria I. Chavez emphasized the importance of the operation, saying, "I applaud the efforts and diligence of our Border Patrol agents in taking this large amount of extremely dangerous drugs off the streets.  We will continue to work with our partner agencies to help ensure these drug traffickers are held accountable," as reported by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
