The City of Boulder, together with Boulder County Public Health, the Latino Chamber, and the Boulder Chamber, is set to host a special event aimed at assisting mobile food vehicle operators with the licensing process. Slated for May 6, the initiative will take place at the Boulder Fire Training Center from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., providing support on a first-come, first-served basis. According to the City of Boulder, bilingual staff will be available to help with application paperwork, assembling necessary documents, and, if the food vehicle is present, conducting the required retail food license and fire inspections. Applications can be filed with the convenience of being invoiced later, removing the immediate financial burden.

This event not only represents the city's appreciation for the colorful array of cuisine that food trucks contribute to community life, but also underscores a commitment to maintaining public health and safety. Operators of mobile food ventures are mandated to possess the proper licensing, it's not mere paperwork, but a safeguard that ensures standards are met and that the playing field is kept level for all. As stated by the City of Boulder, vendors must obtain "a Business License, Sales Tax License, Mobile Food Vehicles License, Boulder County Public Health Retail Food License, and fire inspection" before they can serve the public. Those interested in attending the licensing event must pre-register no later than noon on May 5.

Those with existing Mobile Food Vehicle licenses should note they are valid for two years, expiring on March 1 of the second year. Licenses processed post-March 1 will have a shortened validity period. The city uses these regulations not just to monitor the mobile food scene but also to support it through proactive compliance efforts.
