Carrboro residents can mark their calendars for a series of educational and interactive events targeting mental health awareness, courtesy of a collaboration between the Diversion Social Worker and the Carrboro Police Department (CPD). The events, dubbed "Mental Health Mondays," are set to take place at the Drakeford Library Complex on the first three Mondays of May – 5, 12, and 19.

According to information provided by the Town of Carrboro website, the first session on May 5 is dedicated to diversion programs in Orange County. Attendees will have the chance to meet and converse with staff from the Criminal Justice Resource Department. This meeting aims to shed light on the efforts and successes of local diversion initiatives.

The following Monday, May 12, shifts the focus to the CPD's Crisis Intervention Team (CIT). This interactive session will not just educate the public on the benefits of having CIT officers, but will also engage children through a 911 role play experience. Additionally, "Conversations with a Cop" is set to provide a platform for frank dialogue between police officers and community members.

Concluding the series on May 19, "Self-Care & Compassion" invites participants to explore and discuss what self-care truly means. The program is planned to be a reflective session where light refreshments and interactive activities will also be available to foster a comfortable environment conducive to learning and enrichment.

All events will take place from 12 to 2 p.m. in Room 152-A of the Drakeford Library Complex located at 203 S. Greensboro St., as per the Town of Carrboro's announcement.
