Residents of central North Carolina are likely to experience a gentle intermission from the recent spell of rainfall with a slight chance of rain or drizzle expected before 9am today, according to the National Weather Service in Raleigh. The overcast sky might break into showers or light sprinkles after 4pm, with a mild high tapping at nearly 61 degrees. A modest pull from the north might gift us with wind speeds honing up to 9 mph by the morning, potentially bursting to 20 mph, detailed the National Weather Service.
As nighttime lays its veil upon the day, the chances of showers should dwindle before 11pm. Clouds are then forecasted to clear, surrendering to a tranquil night with a low around 40 degrees. The wind, once lively, will now settle, consistently calm through the transition to a sunny tomorrow high near 65.
The workweek is set to jolt to life with an energetic Monday, boasting a robust sunny high near 83 degrees. As the southwest wind awakens from its weekend repose, it would whisk through the region with speeds possibly ranging from 7 to 11 mph, and gusts could dance as high as 21 mph. The prevailing good weather seems to extend until Friday, with temperatures warmly adventuring to the high 70s and skies remaining primarily free of clouds.
The National Weather Service also nudged the public about a potential whip in the wind on Tuesday, which could reach up to 40 or 45 mph in the afternoon. Such strong gusts bring an "increased fire danger risk," the weather agency warned, especially in areas like Person, Granville, and Vance, amongst others. Spotter activation, however, is "not expected at this time." With the humid remnants of Saturday likely fading, hopefully, residents can enjoy the gleaming sun without much concern, save for the blustery threat midweek.
