In Simi Valley on Monday night, a routine traffic stop escalated into a high-speed chase, resulting in injuries, including a broken arm for a 10-year-old child. According to KTLA, the Simi Valley Police Department reported that at about 8:30 p.m., an officer attempted to pull over a driver for ignoring a stop sign at the intersection of Simi Town Center Way and Jefferson East when the driver shut off the vehicle's headlights and fled the scene.

The pursuit, lasting roughly two minutes, ended disastrously when the suspect crashed into a parked car on Erringer Road and Covington Avenue. The driver, 23-year-old Juan Angel Martinez-Martinez from Los Angeles, was found with three passengers: his mother, brother, and a 10-year-old sibling. "The 10-year-old sustained a fractured arm and additional injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital by AMR personnel," KTLA stated in their report. Martinez-Martinez and the other passengers received treatment for minor injuries.

Martinez-Martinez now faces multiple felony charges, which, per Nixle, include evading a peace officer, causing injury, reckless driving while evading, and child endangerment, among others. He was booked at the Ventura County Main Jail following the incident.
