The Clark County School District (CCSD) is soon to welcome Felicia Gonzales and Dr. Jesse Welsh as their new Deputy Superintendents following the Board of Trustees' approval of their contracts. As reported by News3LV, Superintendent Jhone Ebert expressed enthusiasm about the appointments. "I am excited to have Ms. Gonzales and Dr. Welsh rejoin CCSD in the Deputy Superintendent roles," Ebert said. "They both bring extensive knowledge of PK-12 education and the District back to CCSD, along with proven leadership skills necessary to empower educators in our schools."
Gonzales, a Las Vegas native, will step into her position as the Deputy Superintendent of Business Operations starting next Monday. She is no stranger to the educational landscape, having previously worked as the Associate Superintendent for CCSD and was the founding principal of the Southwest Career and Technical Academy. Her return signifies a continuation of a career steeped in local education.
Similarly, Dr. Jesse Welsh will assume his role on May 2 as the Deputy Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. According to 8 News NOW, Welsh has a rich history with the district, serving in roles ranging from Principal of Thurman White Middle School to Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Professional Development. Most recently, Welsh was the CEO of Nevada State High School and has previously held the superintendent position in Arizona.
The addition of Gonzales and Welsh comes at a time when CCSD is looking to bolster its leadership team and enhance its educational framework. Their collective experiences and intimate knowledge of the district's challenges and opportunities are expected to provide a steadying influence on the county's educational operations.
