The Clay County Sheriff's Office in Florida has announced it will be hosting the 2025 Clay County Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) to support the Special Olympics, an event aimed at fostering acceptance and inclusivity for people with intellectual disabilities, on Friday, May 2 at 9:00 am, a statement that echoes the organization’s broader commitment to serving and engaging with the community in meaningful ways. In a social media post by the Clay County Sheriff's Office, they divulged details about the upcoming fundraiser, urging the public to get involved either by running or by showing support along the route.
The engagement begins with the sale of 2025 LETR shirts, available for purchase on the morning of the event, with cotton shirts priced at $20 and dry-fit shirts at $25, all proceeds will directly benefit the Clay County Special Olympics Florida Athletes, participants can buy these at the Plantation Sports Complex before being shuttled to the starting line at the Hibernia Publix Super Markets. Participants, Special Olympics athletes, and Unified Partners are expected to start the torch run promptly at 9:00am after they have assembled.
For those unable to participate in the run itself, the Sheriff’s Office has extended an invitation to the community to contribute to the spirit of the day by lining the route to cheer on the participants; their presence is a crucial component, serving as a bridge connecting the athletes with a wider audience of supporters. Furthermore, individuals and business leaders interested in making donations to the Clay County Special Olympics are encouraged to reach out to Lt. Cox for instructions on how to contribute to the cause.
