Early this morning, the quiet of Culver City was shattered along with the glass window of a local business. At 9:31 a.m., Culver City Police were dispatched following a report of vandalism at the 5000 block of Overland Avenue. Upon arrival, they found the aftermath of what appeared to be a deliberate act of property damage.
Authorities did not have to search long for the individual responsible for the vandalized window. Walking at the intersection of Farragut Drive and Overland Avenue, the suspect was detained without incident. Described by the Culver City PD, the situation escalated quickly when the suspect became combative during a search, "attempted to strike and kick" the officers. Miraculously, no officers were harmed in their efforts to subdue the suspect.
Investigations into the suspect's background uncovered a pattern of related criminal behavior. It was revealed that the suspect was already being sought for two outstanding warrants relating to arson and vandalism.
