City officials and North Oak Cliff residents are gearing up for a dual celebration with the Coombs Creek Trail Ribbon Cutting event, marking an exciting expansion that connects the community even further. Council Member Chad West, Park Board Vice Chair JR Huerta, and Dallas County Commissioner Dr. Elba Garcia will be front and center at the festivities as they unveil the trail's new segments to Moss Park and Beckley Ave, according to an announcement on the City of Dallas website. The enhancements to Coombs Creek Trail weave a nearly 4-mile path that invites locals to engage in anything from a peaceful walk to an energetic bike ride, forming a key east-west thoroughfare within District 1.
Tomorrow, beginning at 3:30 p.m., attendees will assemble at Moss Park, 119 S Plymouth Rd., Dallas, Texas, eagerly anticipating the event's kick-off. Caught up in the spirit of community togetherness, the city's elected dignitaries will provide insights and celebratory addresses from 3:40 to 4 p.m. The first of the two ribbon cuttings is set to commence posthaste at Moss Park, carving out a moment for the neighborhood to witness the physical manifestation of their expanded recreational footprint.
After the initial ribbon is snipped, the event will transition into an inclusive community bike ride that spans the entirety of the newly extended Coombs Creek Trail, allowing participants to take in the trail's amenities firsthand. This 4 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. excursion will culminate at the Coombs Creek Bridge, where a second ribbon cutting and a photogenic moment await at approximately 4:30 p.m., with access from 1651 Jr Dr.
Once the official ceremonies conclude and the last ribbon falls, the community is invited to pedal back to Moss Park, cruise home, or keep the celebration wheels turning at Chip's Old Fashioned Hamburgers at 1605 N Beckley Ave.
