Detroit police, with support from federal investigators, have conducted a second search at a residence in Inkster. The search is part of the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of 17-year-old London Thomas, according to CBS News Detroit. The activity took place at the home of the teen's 23-year-old boyfriend.
London Thomas has been reported missing since April 5 after being dropped off at her boyfriend's house on Carlysle Street. She was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black leggings, and pink Crocs. Her cellphone last pinged in Westland around 10 a.m. on April 6. Family members have shared information with the media, and community members have assisted in search efforts. Two organized searches took place in wooded areas and wetlands near Cooper Elementary and Hines Park, where her phone was last tracked, as reported by FOX 2 Detroit. London's parents have noted limited communication from Inkster police as the investigation continues.
The Detroit Police Department is leading the investigation into the case, with a continued focus on the boyfriend's residence. The FBI and crime scene investigators have been involved in the search, but no significant findings have been reported. London's mother, Jasma Bennett, told FOX 2 Detroit, "I just feel like there’s a lot of missing information, and I don’t know why."
The search for London Thomas continues as her stepfather, Darnell, stated, "I still have hope. But at this point, the only thing I can do is leave it in God’s hands. It’s whatever His will is. I have to accept that. I just want her home," as per ClickOnDetroit. The Detroit Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact the 8th Precinct at 313-596-5840 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-Speak Up. A $2,500 reward is being offered for tips that could help locate her.
