Robert Lequan Pugh, a 47-year-old man from Detroit, has been charged with multiple felonies, including attempted murder, after an 18-year-old with autism was shot last Wednesday. The teen, who is from River Rouge, was mistakenly dropped off by an Uber at Lenox Street and East Warren Avenue. After taking a photo to help his relatives find him, he was approached by Pugh. As the teen tried to leave, Pugh allegedly shot him in the back, according to ClickOnDetroit.
In a statement to Audacy's Darrylin Horne, Violet Woosck confirmed that her brother has been released from the hospital and is able to walk. Initial concerns about possible paralysis due to the proximity of the bullets to his spine have been ruled out. She said he was advised to rest but continues to walk.
Pugh was charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, carrying a weapon with unlawful intent, and three counts of felony firearm. He turned himself in to Detroit’s Fifth Precinct on Tuesday. He was arraigned on Thursday and given a $100,000 cash or surety bond with a GPS tether. A bond redetermination hearing is scheduled for April 21, and a Probable Cause Conference is set for April 28. Prosecutor Kym Worthy said, “The alleged facts in this case are disturbing and completely devoid of humaneness,” as reported by CBS Detroit.
