The Mediterranean culinary scene in downtown Detroit is receiving a boost with the addition of the fast-casual restaurant CAVA, which is set to open its doors this coming summer. According to Click On Detroit, the upcoming location will be stationed in the Bedrock Building at 636 Woodward Avenue, adjacent to Campus Martius Park, marking CAVA's inaugural venture into Michigan.
Not just any addition to the city's food landscape, the arrival of CAVA, a chain recognized for its nationwide presence, represents a nod to the industry's shift towards bolder, healthier eating options. "The addition of CAVA to downtown Detroit will bring a fresh, modern concept to the city," Naumann Idrees, Bedrock’s Senior Vice President of Leasing, was quoted in an announcement obtained by Metro Times, "Their commitment to bold, healthy food and vibrant community experiences aligns perfectly with the energy that defines Detroit. We’re delighted to introduce high-quality brands like Cava to the heart of the city."
As a culinary brand, CAVA has built its reputation on not only its dining establishments but also through a range of dips, spreads, and dressings that have found their way onto retail shelves in stores that include Whole Foods. The company itself was founded in 2006 by first-generation Greek Americans in Maryland, and it significantly expanded its footprint in the US after acquiring the Zoës Kitchen chain in 2018, as detailed by a report from Metro Times.
