In a recent undercover sting, Misael Miranda Chavez, a 46-year-old man from Eastvale, was arrested for attempting to arrange a sexual liaison with a person he believed to be a 13-year-old boy. The operation, executed by the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff's Station, utilized the Kik social media app to intercept potential predators. According to details disclosed by the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department, Chavez engaged in conversation with an undercover deputy posing as the young boy and then proceeded to quickly arrange to meet up to commit sexual acts.

Detectives running the operation on April 17 noted that Chavez, under the username "chinoCa21," took the step to move the interaction beyond the Kik platform. The arrest unfolded after Chavez agreed to the illicit meeting, which was supposed to materialize. Following his arrest, Chavez was able to subsequently post bail, which was set at $100,000, KTLA reported. Meanwhile, the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department believes that there may be more individuals who have suffered from similar advances by Chavez.

The suspect's photo and online alias have been made public in a collective effort by the authorities to identify potential additional victims. "Detectives believe there may be additional victims of the suspect who have not come forward," indicated the Sheriff's Department.
