El Monte police officers were involved in a shooting incident with a suspect linked to a stolen vehicle, authorities confirmed. The encounter occurred around 11:45 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Garvey and New Deal avenues, according to FOX 11.
The suspect was taken to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition, with no injuries sustained by law enforcement officials. Details on what exactly precipitated the shooting have not been disclosed, as the investigation is in progress. Last week's incident, in which El Monte police fatally shot a man reportedly armed with a knife, could compound concerns over this recent use of force.
Additional coverage provided by CBS News Los Angeles depicts the aftermath of the shooting with SkyCal aerial footage. The video captured a silver mini-SUV, peppered with bullet holes, after having crashed into a bush of a shopping center parking lot on the 12000 block of Valley Boulevard.
