An elderly woman became the latest victim of a "jugging" robbery, a term used to describe incidents where suspects follow individuals from a bank with the intent to steal their cash, after withdrawing money from a local Wells Fargo branch, Houston police say. According to the Houston Police Department's Robbery Division, the incident occurred on April 1, 2025, when the complainant was approached and robbed in her apartment complex's parking lot shortly before 1 pm.
The robbery took place at the 6600 block of Sam Houston Parkway, after the elderly complainant had just parked her car. A red SUV abruptly parked behind her, an unidentified male sprang out, opened the passenger door of her vehicle, and forcefully snatched her purse. The suspect quickly returned to the SUV, and they sped away from the scene. The police believe, that the suspect had been trailing the victim since she left the Wells Fargo Bank located at 9702 Bellaire Boulevard, as reported by the Houston Police Department's Robbery Division.
The suspect has been described as a White or Hispanic male, around 170 pounds, and was last seen wearing all black. The vehicle involved was noted as a red Ford SUV but had a bogus license plate at the time of the crime.
