The family of Bryan Altamirano-Solano, the 25-year-old man who was murdered in his hotel room at Caesars Palace on the Las Vegas Strip in 2023, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Caesars Entertainment. This legal action comes after two women, Erika Covington and Arionna Taylor, were convicted of second-degree murder and robbery with a deadly weapon in the case, as News 3 reported.
According to 8 News Now, the lawsuit alleges that the resort failed to provide a safe environment or enforce proper security measures, contributing to Altamirano-Solano's death. Furthermore, the family contends that following notification by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) of rising illegal sex work crimes on the Strip, Caesars did not bolster its security protocols effectively. The family is seeking damages, claiming negligence and wrongful death, with reports indicating the amount requested is at least $50,000.
The surveillance footage, which showed Covington and Taylor entering Altamirano-Solano's room and fleeing shortly after with a bag belonging to the victim, was key evidence cited by prosecutors. Police did not definitively name the trigger-puller, but a cartridge casing found in the room was linked to Taylor’s weapon. In January, both women received a 10-year prison sentence with eligibility for parole in 2033, including credit for time served, according to 8 News Now.
The suit also criticizes Caesars for not restoring its security staff to pre-pandemic levels and failing to maintain comprehensive records for trespassed sex workers unless an incident is reported, an inadequacy they argue hampers repeat offense prevention. Notably, on the night of May 15, 2023, Caesars allowed Taylor and Covington, both underage for casino floors, to enter and remain on the property. Despite multiple requests for comments on the allegations, Caesars Entertainment has not issued a response, as indicated by the reports from News 3.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about safety at a major Las Vegas Strip hotel following a tragic incident. Hearing date for the lawsuit has not been scheduled.
