An altercation over a bicycle in the Corona section of Queens has resulted in the fatal stabbing of a 22-year-old man, authorities said. The incident occurred just before 1 a.m. today, close to the intersection of Junction Boulevard and Roosevelt Avenue, ABC7NY reports.

Following the stabbing, officers from the 115th Precinct were dispatched to the scene. The unidentified victim was discovered with a stab wound to the abdomen. Paramedics quickly transported the man to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he succumbed to his injuries, according to a report by AM New York. Following the incident, a person of interest was taken into custody, however, no charges have been filed as of yet.

While the identity of the deceased is being withheld until the family is notified, the NYPD has closed Junction Boulevard between 38th Avenue and Roosevelt Avenue as the investigation continues. Local residents and commuters faced closures and were advised to seek alternate routes during this time.

The NYPD is actively investigating the stabbing and they urge anyone with information to come forward. Up to April 6, the 115th Precinct, which spans Jackson Heights, East Elmhurst, and North Corona, had recorded two homicides.
