A fatal collision occurred Monday afternoon when a Metrolink train struck a vehicle near Camarillo, resulting in the death of the vehicle's driver. The Ventura County Fire Department reported the southbound Ventura County Line 118 train impacted the vehicle around 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of Las Posas Road and Fifth Street, located between Camarillo and Oxnard, according to a post by VCFD PIO on social media.

The incident compelled the temporary closure of the tracks, consequently disrupting the train's schedule toward Los Angeles. To swiftly remedy the interruption of service, KTLA reported that alternate transportation was offered to the five passengers and three crew members on board, none of whom were injured in the crash.
California Highway Patrol officers, engaged in a preliminary investigation, found that "a white Lincoln MKC was traveling southbound on Las Posas Road and had stopped for a red traffic signal at Fifth Street," as stated in a press release obtained by CBS News Los Angeles. The vehicle, unfortunately, stopped on the tracks, where it was hit by the train as the railroad crossing arms were activating.
An aftermath of devastation ensued as the force of the impact pushed the white Lincoln dozens of feet from the point of collision. The Metrolink train managed to gradually come to a stop approximately a quarter mile from the crash site.
