This morning, a house fire in Farmington Hills resulted in at least a dozen hospitalizations, including four police officers. The blaze was reported around 5 a.m. when a woman made "a frantic call" to the authorities, as FOX 2 Detroit details. Heavy smoke and flames came from the single-family home on 10 Mile Road near Middlebelt.

Jon Unruh, the city's fire chief, confirmed that police and firefighters responded swiftly to the incident. Upon hearing that individuals were trapped inside, police officers didn't hesitate to make entry into the home and made several rescues, The Detroit News reported Jon Unruh as saying. According to Unruh, they performed what he called a very heroic rescue. Those rescued ranged in age from 5 months to 27 years old. Unruh told CBS News Detroit that three of the victims are in serious condition, all of whom are adults.

Aside from detailing the conditions of the civilians, Unruh mentioned the injuries sustained by the rescuers. One officer is in temporary serious condition, while the remaining three are in good condition, suffering from smoke inhalation just like the other victims. None of those rescued were burned, he clarified in a statement, as reported by The Detroit News.
