The Geauga County Sheriff's Office took to social media to introduce one of their experienced emergency dispatchers, Christina Lamtman, who brings a compelling narrative of dedication and personal touch to her line of work. Lamtman, with a tenure of 15 years in emergency dispatch, has spent nearly a decade at the Geauga County Sheriff's Office, where she has become an integral part of the operations.
As shared in a Facebook post by the Geauga County Sheriff's Office, Lamtman finds the most fulfillment in "being a part of someone’s story," especially when those stories have positive endings. Although the outcome of the situations she navigates callers through often remains unknown, the moments when she does hear back are described as "incredibly rewarding." Lamtman has expressed that helping individuals in distress provides her with "a deep sense of fulfillment."
Married for 16 years and a mother of four with three grandchildren, Lamtman values her family life and their time together. Her outdoor activities include camping and kayaking, and she appreciates exploring new destinations with family and friends. At home, managing a small farm with an assortment of animals, including goats, chickens, ducks, and a charming koi pond, is one of Lamtman's passions. While it presents challenges, her life outside of work is as full and engaging as her critical role at the sheriff's office.
Reflecting on her career, Lamtman recounted the joy of working with her now-retired colleague, Sallie, who made showing up to work a delight. Lamtman conveyed the sentiment that her workplace extends beyond being just a job, it serves as a kind of therapy, a sentiment shared by many in high-stress occupations. "On tough days, it’s often the people we work with who provide the support and camaraderie that help us push through the most challenging moments," Lamtman acknowledged, according to the Geauga County Sheriff's Office. As suggested by her, such moments of support and kinship underscore the human element that remains indispensable in these environments of perpetual urgency and care.
