Chaos erupted on Roscoe Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley on Thursday night when a high-speed multi-vehicle crash led to nine injuries, two of which were serious. The KTLA coverage noted the immediate response of the Los Angeles Fire Department to the incident in the 13300 block just after 9 p.m., with aerial footage revealing first responders swarming the site and the aftermath of the crash.
The collision involved three vehicles, as a white van in the center of the road showed minor damage and appeared to be forcefully involved with another vehicle's bumper. ABC7's dashcam video captured a car traveling at menacing speeds before it hit the back of the van. The video showed the car spinning out of control before coming to a halt. Several vehicles suffered heavy frontal damage and were seen on either side of the street.
A large debris field surrounding one of the vehicles was visible, which pointed to the severity of the crash. Details about the cause of the crash at the time remained limited, though authorities had not ruled out the possibility of alcohol, drugs, or high-speed driving as contributing factors. Initialed by the Los Angeles Fire Department, the patients included five people with minor injuries and two in serious condition who were rushed to the hospital, according to KTLA's news release.
The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed a total of nine patients were treated following the collision, with ages and genders initially unidentified. In an alert, the department stated, "2 patients transporting in serious condition and 5 patients with non-life threatening injuries." All inquiries regarding the collision were directed to LAPD Inc# 4792.
