Hillsborough County will launch a cleanup initiative in the Progress Village area, scheduled to run from Monday through Friday. The effort will aim to address illegal dumping and code violations that could negatively impact the community’s health, safety, and property values, according to the county’s announcement.
The county's Rapid Response team will be facilitating curbside pickups throughout the week for residents in the specified area, these pickups are designed to handle items like discarded furniture, assorted junk, metals, discarded electronics, and a limit of five non-commercial tires per household, however, to get all this refuse handled properly items must be put curbside by 5 a.m. on the collection days, with the suggestion that residents set items out the night before to ensure they make the cutoff.
Participation in the cleanup event is exclusive to residents within specific boundaries in Progress Village, which are: North up to 85th Drive/Ironwood Avenue, South down to Progress Village Middle School, East to South 86th Street, and West toward South 78th Street; this targeted approach allows for a focused and efficient cleanup within the community.
The initiative represents a municipal effort to maintain neighborhood conditions, acknowledging that the physical environment is influenced by both maintenance and neglect. The effectiveness of such programs often depends on resident awareness and participation. The process involves both the removal of unwanted materials and the preparation of spaces for future use.
